Planning and executing your experiment

Now that you have come up with a hypothesis you can start planning your investigation. Use this document to outline your initial investigations. You may find you need to tweak your hypothesis ans you are designing the investigation. That is fine. Rename this template appropriately and save it to yoour drive. Use dropbox to share the document with other members of your group (and me). You need to submit this to me so I can pass on any materials required to the laboratory technicians and check your design.
Filling out the planning template
Under method give an initial draft design for your investigation. These will not be your final procedures just a rough draft of what you are doing. You will add to this and edit this as you go along.

In your description you need to include all variables: Controlled variables, independent variablesand dependent variablesSee Biozone p 14 and 15 for further explanations.
When designing experiments you need to thnk about;
  • What data do I collect?
  • How am I going to collect it?
  • What is my control group?
  • What is my experimental group?
  • How do I collate results i.e. tables, graphs, photos....?
  • Do I need to do further experiments. Set them up asap?

When you are ready you will can begin your experiments. You need to ensure you clearly label all your experiments and organise that you record results. Results can be takedn as measurements and recorded in a table and graph, diagrams, graphics ......

You may need to revise and redo experiments as you go along. Make sure you and your partner are keeping copies of records in safe and accessile places.
